BeerSmith 2.0
« on: May 03, 2011, 08:25:37 AM »

My favorite brewing software - BeerSmith - is coming out with version 2.0 soon.  They just posted a first look at the major update.  http://www.beersmith.com/blog/2011/05/02/beersmith-2-0-a-first-look/

I use BeerSmith 1.4.  I posted the following to the BeerSmith website:

A question if we already own BeerSmith 1.4: Will we have to buy the new BeerSmith 2.0? I see where it says 2.0 is not an update to 1.4, but not if those who own 1.4 will get the updated/new version.
- If not, will 1.4 owners get double-special-early-purchase pricing?!?

Thanks!
Kirk

I found the answer to my own question...(now I feel stupid!)

I’m offering a discount for existing BeerSmith 1.4 (or earlier) users who wish to preorder or upgrade to BeerSmith 2. The upgrade discount is only available until 31 August 2011, so please upgrade early to avoid paying full price. The upgrade price will be $19.95 until 31 August 2011 and full price for users who choose to upgrade after that date.

Also:

Special Preorder Discount
Existing users who choose to preorder BeerSmith 2 before the official release date will get an additional 15% off the price and pay only $16.95.

Yup.  I just pre-ordered my copy.  I am looking forward to the UI and functional upgrade.

I used Beersmith 2.0 for the first time this past week. I have up to that point used Beertools bcs I am on a mac. I like Beersmith a lot and compared to btools, is has a friendlier interface and certain features that are clearly superior. If anyone is interested I could right up a review of one over the other. For now, I will use Beersmith as my go-to system. Cheers, Dude
