AHA Big Brew Day - May 7th
« on: March 15, 2011, 09:44:32 PM »

Hi All-

We are organizing two locations for celebrating Big Brew Day, an AHA Annual Event.  For more details, please check out http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/pages/events/national-homebrew-day

Wild Wolf Brewing and Fermentation Trap have offered spaces in their parking lots for group brews.  You are encouraged to brew one of the day's selected recipes, http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/pages/events/national-homebrew-day/recipes

If you plan to participate, please respond to this post and where...

Wild Wolf = Nellysford
Fermentation Trap = Ruckersville

I'll need to double check my calendar, but I'm 90% down for this. Since it is only about 5 miles from my house, I sure I will be at Fermentation Trap in lovely Ruckersville.

I haven't gotten around to making a wit yet and I like to idea of using some local ingredients. That will be the one I make.

I am definitely in and will be brewing at the Fermentation Trap because, like Jamey, it is near my house.  I will likely brew the IPA, though it has been a while since I have done the wit, so that could be an option as well.  I love Big Brew Day and I hope that others will be able to come out to one of the two locations.

I'm game and am going to be making a porter with a wit yeast and massive amounts of East Kent Goldings at Flameout. Seriously, I'll probably make a stronger version of the Wit with a citrus blend, chamomile, and coriander. Nothing too wild just a tad more booze in my recipe. Fruit-wise, I wonder if it would add anything to make a wit any better. Maybe apricots? Or just make a real good wit.
