CAMRA barrel brew project
« on: February 22, 2011, 03:36:26 PM »

As discussed at the February meeting, I'm interested in doing a barrel-aged beer with some fellow CAMRA members. Still working on the details of brew style (e.g. bourbon-barrel or sour) and batch/barrel size (15g-55g), but I need to find out who is interested and what style(s) there is interest for. I'd personally like to start off with a dark ale (imperial porter maybe?) and a bourbon barrel. I've put queries out on the forum before when barrel purchase opportunities have arisen, and very few people have responded.  I'm doing it in advance now so next time I see a barrel I can buy it knowing that others are willing to chip-in for the barrel and brew some beer to fill it. So, if you're interested in participating in a CAMRA "barrel project", post here to let me know.

I am in.  I like the idea of doing a darker stronger ale at first.  Then, depending on how the batch goes, maybe eventually morphing it into a sour barrel.  Just my two cents.

I'm in.

And I'm down for both. If you want to lead with an imp porter or an RIS and a bourbon barrel, bring it on.

If you know anything about me, you'll know a sour is just fine, too.

I'm in, but not if it heads towards the sour, bret or Belgian categories. (Sorry Tom/Jamey, I just don't swing that way. Grin )

I vote dark and malty.

I'm definitely interested - if for nothing else than to have a group brew day.
