September CAMRA meeting

What is on the schedule for September's meeting? I'll do schwarzbiers if the timing is okay (I promise to be there this time). Or did you guys decide on a style already? I see that Tom has some interest in Oktoberfests at the moment.
For examples of schwarzbiers, I was thinking of asking Court Square to get Kostritzer, Kulmbacher Mönchshof, and Sam Adam's Black Lager. I have some others in mind if any of these are unobtainable, but I think these 3 give a nice spectrum of what falls within the category.

I think schwarzbier is still a fine topic. I will give other people a couple of days to request additional name brands before sending Spidey's list off to Court Square. If you guys can think of any, please post here.

Looking forward to the meeting although I'll be late. Maybe Spidey can offer a condensed make-up session at 7:30 or so.

According to Jamey in another thread, the CAMRA meeting will be held on Tuesday 9/9/08, NOT 9/2/08, because of Labor Day weekend. The meeting will still be located at Court Square Tavern. Tom, were they able to get my requests? Need any substitutes?

I don't think we will have any of the beer style to taste during our meeting, I am afraid. Most of that is because I was reluctant to push to get them to order the beer given that we only had 6 people at the last meeting. Jamey, Christopher, and I were hoping that this is because it was August and summer was in full swing. However, I would feel terrible if they went to the trouble of special ordering beer for the event that we did not have enough people to purchase. I say this not to make people feel bad in any way, but to explain my thought process in why I did not press them to do the special order. If anyone has questions about this decision, please let me know, and I would be happy to explain further.
I am looking forward to hearing about the style, though, as it is always one I have wanted to brew.
Cheers.

Hey guys,
I'm a new member. I moved here in July. I have a Bière de Garde (French farmhouse ale) in secondary. Just getting started again after the move. It wont be ready to share for next Tuesday but will for October. Can we bring homebrew to the meetings? It sounds like you guys were ordering styles of the month from the bar and so I'm guessing we can't just bring commercial schwartzbier... but how about homebrew? Do we have any club tastings separate from meetings if not? I look forward to meeting everyone next week.

Unfortunately, the Court Square Tavern's liquor license does not allow us to bring homebrew to the meetings. I have occational tastings and other events at people's homes. We wish we could do more, as the club is about homebrewing, but that is where we are right now. If you would be interested in having a tasting at your house, just let me know.
