Thanks for coming out to our fifth meeting
« on: June 04, 2008, 07:48:42 AM »

We had about 15 people come out to Court Square for the meeting last night, including a new face or two.  We recapped the CAMRA tasting at Evan's house last weekend, and had two nice round table discussions.  The first feature styles in general, where the come from, why the might or might not be important, and how strictly people adhear to or disregard them.  I found this dicussion very intersting, as people brought up some good points I had not though of before, such as the styles providing a basic vocabulary to discuss general types of beer.  The second discussion featured how to brew in the summer heat and methods that people had of coping with it.  Two of my favorite answers were not equipment or technology-based at all:  1) People don't brew during the really hot months, which was the traditional response to heat; and 2) People modify the styles they brew to fit the conditions, which is part of the reason why the styles evolved in the first place.

Thanks for coming out, everyone, and a reminder that we pushed the July meeting back one week to July 8th.

Cheers.

Good meeting.
Good brew.
Good Discussions.
FYI: More Beer is having a sale on temperature controllers. The analog is $40 after the discount code: JUNEO8BYO  The digital is $85 after the same code entry and shipping should be free on both items. Chill it out.
