Looking for a Metal "Box" 10" x 6" x 6" - or another idea
« on: May 13, 2008, 07:52:20 AM »

In my efforts to convert the kegerator I got from Craig's List into something that holds three taps, I have come up with the following idea.  I want to mount a metal "box" on top of the existing tower (really just a metal tube that is 2.5" in diameter) and attache all three taps to that box with standard shanks.  I can then run the beer lines thorugh the tower tube, up into the box, and still have room to work.  The existing tube is rather small in diameter, so it is hard to work with.  With the box idea, I could just open the box to service the taps.

Here is a link to a similar idea:

So, I am looking for a metal (aluminum, stainless, etc) box that is approximately 10" x 6" x 6".  I have been searching ebay and all of the local stores and have not found anything remotely like what I am looking for.  So, I figured I would post it out to the forum to see if anyone had any ideas.

I am also open to other ideas people might have about converting the existing tower.  I saw this box idea and thought it would be simple to procure and modify, but if someone has another idea, I would love to hear it.  Thanks.

What about using a cash box? Like the metal boxes that people use at flea markets and such. I'm sure you could get one for cheap from Walmart or Target. Then it's already hinged with a latch so that you can open it to access the taps.

That is a good idea, Spidey.  I will see what I can find.

More cool ideas, thanks Kim.  I had not thought of a mailbox.  That might look kind of cool, as well as being functional.
