Do you have a connection to UVa?
« on: April 11, 2008, 11:26:46 AM »

This is a poll, per Spidey’s great idea, to see what kind of connections that club members may have to the University of Virginia.  This might help us with some possible restrictions we might run into in the future regarding using rooms or buildings on grounds for club activities and meetings.

Thanks,

Jamey

No connections but  I have the oh-so privileged "alumni status" which translates to UVA just wanting all my money.

Same as Spidey, I did my postdoc fellowship at UVA for 3 years at the school of medicine, which is considered a faculty position.  From what I saw on Fridays at 4PM, most faculty had themselves a beer during our weekly social functions on campus.  So this is a very beer friendly university.  Hey Spidey, is the Cell Biology department still doing the Fridays at 4?  I got the Cell Signaling department to start doing that as well.  LOL  Crazy beer drinking scientists!

Yep yep. We still do Friday's at 4, at least whenever a lab is willing to sponsor.  But of course my lab has Friday's at 4 EVERY week! Biologists do indeed love their beer.

I am a graduate student...until Spring '09. I'll be gone this summer, though.
