Wild Blue: Blueberry Lager by Blue Dawg

I saw Wild Blue: Blueberry Lager by Blue Dawg Brewing at the store and figured I'd give it a shot. If one is looking for a beer this doesn't really cut it. It's strongly fruity and has a carbonated/champaign like taste to it. Once I decided I was really drinking a wine cooler I appreciated it more. It was certainly not the mild flavor I've been searching for but it was by no means undrinkable. If you're into fruit tasting beers this was quite good, but it's more fruit tasting than beer flavored.
A while back starr hill had a microbrew of a lighter beer with overtones of blueberries. Not enough to make it sweet, in fact the first sips provoked nothing more than a nice crisp ale flavor, but there was enough blueberry to give it an interesting aftertaste that you noticed after a couple swallows. Since then I've been looking for a commercial equivalent (although I'm about to give up and just learn to make my own as most offerings are way too sweet/fruity).

Several Maine microbreweries offer blueberry beers because of the whole Maine-wild blueberry thing. One that I have tried might be close to what you are looking for. Atlantic Brewing Company makes a Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale that, as I recall, is not very overpowering. According to their website, you should be able to find it at either Whole Foods or Wine Warehouse. This is not the same as Bar Harbor Brewing (who also makes a Blueberry Ale) so watch what you get. I haven't tried the latter beer so I can't comment on the blueberriness of this one.
