Cascade Rhizomes
« on: April 02, 2008, 08:37:13 AM »

I mentioned at the meeting last night that I can dig up some Cascade rhizomes.  I am not sure how many I will have...first come first serve.

Thanks for the offer! Hopefully folks will swing by and get some...My Cascades are coming into their second year and I'm going to "quarantine" them off from becoming invasive based on your experience.  I'll probably vertically insert non-treated plywood or steel between varieties to limit their spread. Gardeners often use this technique to keep invasive plants at bay. I probably wouldn't have thought of it unless you mentioned your Cascades vigorous nature, so thanks.

Eric,

Thanks for volunteering to do that.  I would be interested in another cascade rhizome.  I have one and it is coming back this year, but I have room to put another on the same trellis system.  Let me know what the best way to get it from you would be.

Everyone else, this is a great opportunity to try growing hops for NO COST to you.  If you were not sure how hops would grow in your yard, get one from Eric and try.  It is the only way to find out and this is the lowest cost you can find (free from an established plant).

Cheers,

Tom

Hi Eric,
Any of those rhizomes still awaiting a new home? If so I could swing by this week and pick up a few...
Thanks!

I put the two new rhizomes I got from Eric in the ground a week ago.  I probably will not see any activity from them for a month or so, but it will be nice to have a couple of extra plants.  Thanks, Eric.
