As a product of the 1980s, I can't help being jazzed by this trailer, even though it isn't particularly well-produced. It had the feeling of "this movie will make a bazillion dollars no matter what we preview, so just throw something together")

As someone who grew up with the series and saw it in the theater twice, I’m scared of what Lucas is going to do.  He did a terrible job with the Star Wars prequels and this one makes me just as nervous. 

I suppose there are two things going on in the trailer that make it worse.  Yeah, Indy is older and he shouldn’t be flying around like he used to, but I can see that getting old after while.  Also, Lucas has some love after with pulp adventures and old time matinee adventures.  What made Raiders great was it was pulpy, but it happened in a real world with a main character who wasn’t some superhero.  (I refuse to see Die Hard #89 for that reason.)

I am hoping it is good, but Lucas is still on the warpath to ruin most of my childhood movie memories.

regrettably, you make excellent points. I remember a midnight trip to see the opening of The Phantom Menace, and remember dejectedly trudging out of the theater, wondering what happened to the Star Wars I knew and loved.

Gulp.

I agree with Jamey . . . but, I hope . . . against all logic . . . that it will be good.  I just loved that series growing up and hope it does not get a giant depth charge, like the Star Wars prequels.

Godfather III.  The Star Wars Prequels.  Rocky 101.  The track record of getting great movies years after the original(s) is not good.  And with this, while the Lost Ark was killer, Temple of Doom was weak and Last Crusade (why was it really NOT the last crusade!) was saved by Sean Connery.  While I am glad Karen Allen is back, Shia LeBeouf?  My kids love Even Stevens and Holes.  Maybe they will like this.

Should have brought back Sean Connery.  Putting him in a movie instantly makes it better, if only for the unitentional comedy factor that he can produce.  Or the intentional comedy factor (especially when Darrell Hammond spoofs him on SNL Jeopardy!).

Some things should be left alone.  I'm praying Lucas, Spielberg & Ford do not tarnish the original more than they already have...

I expect it to be terrible...
